Le trenta immagini scelte da Rotaract ben mostrano con quale interesse i fotografi, attraverso i loro obiettivi, abbiano guardato alla Cina in tutti i suoi aspetti e in tutti i suoi elementi.
Innanzitutto, è utile notare come i protagonisti scelti non siano quelli più classici, scontati, eccessivamente ripetitivi di molte foto che ritraggono questo variopinto paese dalle mille sfaccettature. Si tratta invece di soggetti originali, raramente rappresentati e sicuramente capaci di attrarre l’attenzione sia del pubblico cinese sia di quello internazionale.
Proprio la loro collocazione all’interno del Consolato italiano permetterà a tutti di usufruire, in senso letterale del termine, delle immagini esposte e di apprezzare la Cina, Shanghai e i cinesi da nuove angolazioni e in ambienti inusuali.
Penso in questo caso ai ritratti proposti, testimoni di una Cina vera e alcune volte messa in secondo piano rispetto alle maestose opere architettoniche e infrastrutturali che attirano spesso l’attenzione di chi viene “da fuori”, ma non solo.
Tra i ritratti esposti, ho prestato particolare attenzione per l’immagine di Toonmann che mostra un’anziana donna di una minoranza etnica su uno sfondo di colline tipiche della zona da cui proviene. È stato per me naturale ed evidente paragonare tale fotografia ad un’opera d’arte italiana, il busto di Donna Olimpia Maidalchini Pamphili, realizzato tra il a metà del XVII secolo dallo scultore Alessandro Algardi in puro stile barocco. Al di là della somiglianza del copricapo, l’austero sguardo di Donna Olimpia è qui però sostituito da un affabile e semplice sorriso, ben catturato dall’artista, impreziosito solamente da un tratto brillante segnato dal filo della collana indossata.
Questa immagine ben rappresenta quindi il senso di questa esposizione, che va oltre i simboli della modernità cinese, comunque ben rappresentati dalle immagini che immortalano Shanghai, dal Bund al Museo della Scienza e della Tecnica di Pudong, e Pechino. Rimane però preponderante l’apprezzamento che gli artisti hanno convogliato sui soggetti da loro fotografati, segno di una particolare attenzione verso la popolazione come elemento chiave di un paese che si muove a passo sostenuto verso la modernità proprio grazie ai suoi abitanti.
L’IIC Shanghai è lieto di annunciare la Mostra Fotografica “Through Alien Eyes”, organizzata in collaborazione con il Rotaract Club di Shanghai, presso la Sala Multimediale del Consolato Generale d’Italia a Shanghai.
Le fotografie di “Through Alien Eyes”, scene di vita quotidiana cinese, sono state scattate da fotografi professionisti e dilettanti.
Il programma e’ il seguente:
- giovedi’ 3 marzo p.v., ore 18:00: opening della Mostra;
- domenica’ 6 marzo p.v., ore 14:00: asta di beneficenza silenziosa.
Il ricavato dell’asta andra’ in beneficenza per il progetto “Hefei Wheel Chair”, che prevede la donazione di sedie a rotelle per i bisognosi della Provincia dell’Anhui.

本次摄影展表现了中国的日常生活场景，由专业的和业余的摄影师完成。计划如下：
3月3日，周四，18：00：展览开幕；
3月6日，周日，14：00：非叫价式拍卖会。
该拍卖会所得收入将捐献给“合肥轮椅”计划，该计划提供轮椅给安徽省有需要的人。

SHANGHAI: Photo Exhibition “Through Alien Eyes”.
RispondiEliminaThe thirty pictures chosen by Rotaract well represent the effort made by the photographers, through their lenses, to look at China in each and every one of its aspects and components.
First of all, it’s important to notice how the protagonists are not typical and ordinary, as repetitively found in many pictures that represent this piebald country consisting of a thousand facets. In this case we are dealing with extraordinary subject matters, rarely represented and able to catch the eye of both Chinese and international observers.
Their location inside the Consulate General of Italy will allow everyone to take advantage of the images exhibited and to appreciate China, Shanghai and its people from a new point of view and in an unusual environment.
I refer in this case to the portraits displayed, witnesses of a genuine China which is often put behind the gigantic architectures and infrastructures that can easily conquer the attention of those who come from “the outside”, but not only.
Among the portraits, I especially paid attention to the picture by Toonmann that show an old lady from an ethnic minority with the hills of her region on the background. It was natural for me to relate that picture to an Italian masterpiece, the bust of Donna Olimpia Maidalchini Pamphili, created by the sculptor Alessandro Algardi in mid-XVII century in pure baroque style. Other than the similarity of the headgear, the stern look of Donna Olimpia is replaced here by a pleasant and friendly smile, well captured by the artist, only embellished by a shiny red line of the necklace.
This picture well summarizes the meaning of this exposition, which goes beyond the symbols of Chinese modernity, however well represented by the images that immortalize Shanghai, from its Bund to the Museum of Science and Technology, and Beijing. Nevertheless, the appreciation of the photographers for their protagonists still prevails, as a symbol of the sympathy for the Chinese population as the key element of a country that walks toward modernity thanks to its people.
